What does FlexGroove do? Try it yourself.

Drag the curve points to shift the timing of a hi-hat pattern. This is the core principle behind FlexGroove and FlexGrooveAudio.

FlexGroove uses a timing curve to shift when each note plays. Move the curve points up or down to push notes earlier or later. When all points are centered, the pattern plays on a straight grid. In the real device, this works with any MIDI pattern — with six modes, probability controls, and full Push integration.

About

Martin von Frantzius is a composer, violinist, and music software developer based in Hamburg. His tools are shaped by the same fascination with timing, rhythm, and microtonal structures that drives his compositions.

FlexGroove, his Max for Live device for off-the-grid MIDI sequencing, is sold by Ableton and has been reviewed by MusicRadar, DJ Mag, and other publications. His latest device, FlexGrooveAudio, extends the same concept to warped audio clips using Ableton's Warp Markers.

What others say

FlexGroove lets you manipulate rhythms in a way that’s hard to achieve with Live’s core tools. A very handy, creative add-on.

★★★★★ 4.5/5

A great solution for anyone who wants to experiment with more esoteric timing and go off the grid.

DJ Mag

Why not warp time, too? [...] It looks seriously addictive.
